Tina Kwei-ki Fu has studied violin at 15. Her teachers included Mr. Tong Lung
(湯龍), Ms. Leigh Walker and Mr. Ting-sun Pang (彭鼎新).
Besides instrumental training, she has also studied other topics in music,
such as theories, history and appreciation, and later, music criticisms in 1992.
In 1988, she participated
in a competition jointly presented by CBS/Sony (HK) and RTHK Radio 4. That was a criticism competition on a disk that showed off the top musicians in town. She was the second runner-up in that event.
The criticism program which jointly organized by Hong Kong Philharmonic
Society and Chinese University of Hong Kong was held in October 1992. After
the course, Tina Fu was one of the chosen candidates for submitting a real
concert review to the magazine Crossover. And by that opportunity, she knew the late Mr. Shun-chi Ip
(葉純之)
who was one of the tutors there and later became her private teacher.
Her works have been published on New Evening Post,
Sing Tao Daily, Hong Kong Economic Journal, Ta Kung Pao, South China Morning
Post's
magazine Xpressions, Ming Pao, Theatre Critique Monthly,
Theatre Critique Bi-monthly, Artism Bi-monthly, website of International Association of
Theatre Critics (HK), HMV's magazine The
Voice, CD booklets and concert house programs.
She has been chosen as an instructor for Hong Kong Youth Arts Festival
1999. At the same year, she has been invited to appear in radio review programs.
Since 1999, Tina Fu has been a freelance critic of RTHK Radio 4.
